T-minus 5.5 weeks and counting

So, the house drama continues. I can't say a lot because my agent keeps yelling at me for my big mouth yapping about stuff so all I'll say is that provided the inspection on our house goes well, which we're pretty confident will happen (for the most part), we'll be moving into our new house in 5 1/2 weeks!! We had our inspection at the new place Saturday and while it wasn't cringe-free (painting AND mudding over wallpaper? Really? Really?! Why do you hate me?), nothing terrible was found and everything that's broken can be fixed. We were there for almost 4 hours (the inspector was very thorough) so I got a lot of time to poke around in the daylight. We realized when we got there that we'd only been there at night so daytime was a whole new experience. There are a ton of windows and the house gets really light and bright during the day and it was fun to be able to sit and really think about living there and what I want to do with it. They laid a new kitchen floor because of the water damage and while it's not what I would have chosen style-wise, it's new and neutral so I'm fine with it for now. I hope that in about 5 years we can rip everything out and start over but for now I can only make cheap, minor improvements. My sister is like "why bother, just live in it like it is" but can't help it. I already have a whole list ready for IKEA in April. I'm chomping at the bit to get my grubby hands into all these projects but I MUST BE PATIENT.

So that's that. We now just wait and see what happens. I'm staying the course and going on the notion that we're moving even though my agent keeps reminding me ad nauseam that nothing is final until they hand us the key so I'm staying on HIGH ALERT. Or at least MEDIUM ALERT. Jeff keeps looking at me and saying "I can't believe we're moving. A month ago we weren't moving and now ALL THIS STUFF has happened and now we've got a new house in the 'burbs and HOLY CRAP WE'RE MOVING." Yes dear, we are. Living with me is like living on a roller coaster. Sometimes it's all smooth and fun but then the bottom drops out and you just have to hang on and enjoy the ride.

Yeah, our lives have been like that too lately.

And when you're in Ikea, nab up some people to make a new store in St Louis happen. We need an Ikea!

Isn't it the worst, Kait? I haven't moved in 10 years and all the hassle is so easily forgotten. This all sucks a big one.

I echo your desire for a hometown Ikea. The 5 hour drive isn't really too convenient. When we did our kitchen, they had forgotten one of our cabinet fronts so we had to drive back up about 3 days after we had been there getting our cabinets.

I think we will be moving to the burbs at EXACTLY the same time!! Look out West County... here come Amy and SJPP!!! And it sounds like our redecorating timeline is the same too. Can you pick up some stuff at Ikea for me?? I'll pay you!
